The Piedmont SWCD is sponsoring scholarships, valued at $550.00 each, for two young people to attend Youth Conservation Camp at Virginia Tech 8-14. Students enrolled in grades 9-12 during the 2011-2012 academic year and residing in Amelia, Nottoway or Prince Edward counties are eligible to attend. The Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a non-profit, political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia operating primarily on a grant basis with funds from state and local governments. Piedmont SWCD provides technical and educational assistance for natural resource conservation to land users, farmers, foresters, homeowners, and local governments in Amelia, Nottoway, and Prince Edward Counties. Since 1939, the District has delivered voluntary, locally-led conservation solutions to natural resource concerns.
