Serving Amelia, Nottoway, and Prince Edward Counties
The board met on November 23 at a regular meeting to approve conservation plans submitted by their staff. After approval of three cost-share practices, a total of 4,600 feet of stream in Prince Edward County will be fenced to ensure that livestock do not enter the stream. These stream sections are considered impaired through the TMDL program.
The Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a non-profit, political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia operating primarily on a grant basis with funds from state and local governments. Piedmont SWCD provides technical and educational assistance for natural resource conservation to land users, farmers, foresters, homeowners, and local governments in Amelia, Nottoway, and Prince Edward Counties. Since 1939, the District has delivered voluntary, locally-led conservation solutions to natural resource concerns.
