The Piedmont SWCD staff discussed soil and how we all depend on it for food with fourth grade students from Prince Edward County as they cycled through ten stations learning about agriculture and its importance to our lives.

The Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a non-profit, political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia operating primarily on a grant basis with funds from state and local governments. Piedmont SWCD provides technical and educational assistance for natural resource conservation to land users, farmers, foresters, homeowners, and local governments in Amelia, Nottoway, and Prince Edward Counties. Since 1939, the District has delivered voluntary, locally-led conservation solutions to natural resource concerns.
